Oscar Mersch was born to a German family living in Palma de Mallorca, located in the Balearic Islands of Spain. Laying claim to some of the most impressive and influential artists born to their country, such as Diego Velazquez, Francisco de Goya, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali, it is no wonder Spain is where Oscar Mersch was able to thrive in his artistic development and talent. Completing his artist studies at the Escola d'Art I Oficis in Palma de Mallorca, and an internship with the prestigious art teacher Don Jose Romeu, Mersch later went on to continue his studies at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos in Valencia. Mersch is currently an active member of the group of painters in "La Centaura", which participates in various exhibitions around the Alicante province.
Mersch does not limit his subject matter to any one theme. His Cityscapes can give us a glimpse into the day to day bustle of a thriving metropolis or more intimate moments of a busy sidewalk café. With a style that successfully fuses realism and impressionism, Oscar's figurative studies are composed in a way that allows him to explore the relationships of human nature. No matter what subject he chooses to grace the canvas with, his rich color palette and intimate perspectives always evoke an emotional response from the viewer.
